Question: When is the best way and how long will it take to increase milk supply?
My son is 10weeks old and I have gone back to work. My milk supply has drastically decreased since going back. I am an RN and work on a busy floor so I am not able to pump very often at work. I try to do it every 3hours, but I am usually only able to do it every 4hours-thankfully though, I am only working 2days a week. Anyways, since starting back to work I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT decrease in my milk supply. So significant that I am having to supplement with formula. What I am wanting to know is how to increase my milk supply and about how long it will take. Before anyone says “Dont use formula”- I HAVE to use formula because my baby only nurses for about 2minutes on each side before he gets so frusturated at the lack of milk that he refuses to nurse. I think that his frusturation is stemming from the low supply and the fact that he is not getting milk from my breast anymore. So, I dont plan on supplementing long- and the more my supply builds up the less formula I will use UNTIL I can solely breast feed/pump.

Fluids, fenugreek (2-3 caplets 3-4 times a day but be aware it can lower your blood pressure), you can drink Mother’s Milk tea but it tastes dreadful and who has time for hot tea? Also, offer the breast before he asks at home and pump when he doesn’t nurse of course.
